Terms of use
Last changed 5 October 2026.
Voicaw is run by The Voicaw Team. By using it you agree to these terms. They're short: please read them.
Who can use Voicaw
You must be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms yourself. Channels marked NSFW are only for adults (18 or over): you confirm that you are before one opens.
Your account
Keep your password and recovery code safe. Because your messages are end-to-end encrypted, nobody, Voicaw included, can get you back into your account or your encrypted messages without them. You're responsible for what's done with your account. Bots you make are your responsibility too, and follow these rules.
What you may not do
Don't use Voicaw to post, send, share or do any of the following:
- Anything that sexualises or exploits children. This is reported to the authorities.
- Sexual or very violent content outside channels marked NSFW, or anyone's intimate pictures shared without their consent.
- Harassment, threats, bullying, encouraging self-harm, or hate against people for who they are.
- Sharing other people's private information without their permission.
- Spam, scams, malware, or pretending to be someone else.
- Anything illegal, or that infringes other people's rights (such as their copyright).
- Breaking into accounts, or into Voicaw itself, or overloading it.
If someone breaks the rules
Report a message or a person from its menu in the app (Report), or write to voicaw@proton.me. Block anyone you don't want to hear from: they can't message you, call you or add you to a group, their messages are hidden for you, and they aren't told. Guild owners and the people they choose run their own guilds, and can remove messages and members there. Voicaw's moderators look at reports, and may remove content, close guilds, and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, with or without warning. A suspended account can't be used until the suspension is lifted; write to voicaw@proton.me if you think it's a mistake.
Voicaw can't read encrypted chats, so it only sees a message from one if someone in it chooses to share it in a report.
Your content
What you post stays yours. You let Voicaw store it and show it to the people you shared it with, which is all it does with it. Messages you've sent stay in other people's chats after you delete your account (see the privacy policy).
The service
Voicaw is provided as it is, for free. It may change, have outages, or stop, and isn't meant for anything where failing to deliver a message or call could cause harm: don't rely on it in an emergency. As far as the law allows, Voicaw isn't liable for losses from using it. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you that can't be taken away.
Ending
You can stop using Voicaw and delete your account at any time (how). Voicaw may end your access if you break these terms.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of Jersey. If they change, this page changes with them, with the date at the top; using Voicaw after that means you accept the new terms.
